Interviewing can be a very daunting process, but Rock-a-bye Nanny Agency will help you as much as we can and ensure it runs as smoothly as possible. So we have provided you with some interviewing information to help.
During an Interview it is important to let the nanny know the outline of the job and your expectations of a child carer. Firstly, ask to see a C.V. and any references they may have, and try to get an idea of the nannies family life:-
- Any hobbies - What is their marital status? - What does their partner do for a living? - Family background (any brothers/sisters, nieces/nephews)
Ask questions about their career/background:-
- Where did they train/study? - Why did they choose to work in childcare? - How long have they been a child carer? - How long were they at their last position for? Were they happy there? - Reasons for leaving - Do they still keep in contact with previous families? - What ages of children have they worked with? - Do they have any hobbies or interests that could benefit the children? (Swimming, dancing, horse riding etc.)
Try and also find out if the nanny would be happy to carry out jobs other than childcare:-
- Housework/Laundry - Appointments for the children (dentist, doctors, hair cuts etc.)
Find out if they are willing to do over-time or babysitting and what hours they are prepared to do. Don't be afraid to ask any questions or concerns you may have. It is important that you and the nanny understand the requirements and expectations needed for the position.
If there are any questions that you don't feel comfortable asking yourself, then please do not hesitate to contact the agency and we will find out the answers on your behalf.
