There are some certain points that parents need to be aware of when employing a nanny. It is important to agree a wage before employing a nanny. Nannies work in a NET rate (the amount after Tax and NI has been deducted). So when discussing an hourly rate with an agency or nanny-they are normally referring to a Net rate. We can also work in a gross rate-just let us know so that we can inform our nannies before hand.

Every nanny has their own hourly rate depending on their age, qualification and experience.

 

 

Once you have found a nanny you will need to register as an employer-unfortunately nannies can not be self-employed so you will need to set up a PAYE scheme on behalf of your nanny and provide payslips regularly. At Rock-a-bye, we highly recommend that you use a payroll company to help you with this. Employers are also entitled to write up a contract between yourselves and your new nanny. It is important this is done so you both have something to work from.  We can provide you with a sample contract (or please see our 'sample contract' page). We are happy to check the contract for you once it’s drawn up and double check everything has been included.

 

We can also help get nannies Ofsted registered if you are looking to use the childcare vouchers. To be Ofsted registered, nannies must have a formal childcare qualification (minimum level 2), first aid certificate, CRB (however a new updated one will be issued) and nanny insurance (public liability insurance). The fee for the Ofsted Registration is £103 (for 12 months).  Please click on the links below for further information on Childcare Vouchers or Ofsted Registration.
