Salary
Pay should be reviewed and a review date provided.

The employee’s rate is £……. Net per week to be paid monthly
by direct debit.
This will be reviewed every 12months
The employer will pay all tax and national insurance contributions.
HOURS OF WORK
Working hours should be clearly stated, also state of any overtime

There will also be 2 nights of babysitting per month which will be
agreed before hand with the employee
Holiday
Clearly specify the number of paid days per year and how much
notice needs to be given for holiday dates. Full time employees
are entitled to 24 paid days off, of which 20 are standard holiday
leave and the remainder are 4 of the bank holidays. As from April
2009 however, all employees will be entitled to all 8 bank holidays
paid.
Part-time employee’s holiday entitlement is calculated pro rata.
The employee will be allowed weeks paid holiday each year
and 4 weeks notice will be given from both employer and
employee when choosing dates.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Affairs and concerns of the household should be respected
and kept confidential
PENSIONS The employer does not operate a pension scheme.
SICKNESS
The employer will pay statutory sick pay as stipulated by the
Government at the rates stipulated by legislation. Any
additional sickness payment will be made at the
discretion of the employer. The employee will give the
employer as much notice soon as possible of any illness
preventing them coming to work
MATERNITY PAY
If an employee becomes pregnant and has been working
for the employer for 26 weeks or more they will qualify for
Statutory Maternity Pay. It will be the employer’s statutory
obligation to pay it.
DISCIPLINE Hopefully you won’t ever use disciplinary action. The procedure
is as follows: two verbal warnings followed by a written
warning. Two written warnings must be followed by dismissal.
TERMINATION
During the first four weeks of the contract, one weeks notice is
required on either side.
After 4 weeks either side may terminate with 4 weeks notice.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS:
Expenses- (The nanny will quite likely require cash for expenses
for the children).
A kitty for expenses will be provided for incidental expenses
relating to the children
Smoking/drinking- Smoking is not permitted during work hours
Telephone calls-(It is best to clarify the use of the telephone by
the nanny.
The home telephone may be used in case of emergencies.
Personal phone calls and texts
must be kept to a minimum during work hours
Car allowance/car insurance- (If a family car is provided then
arrangements for use and petrol needs to be clarified.)
If the nanny is to use their own vehicle then a mileage allowance
needs to be provided.)
Any mileage incurred will be reimbursed at a rate of 30p per mile
(excluding travel to work)
Any car must be maintained and appropriately insured for business use.
Any changes to terms and conditions will be discussed in advance.
